20. The governor of the temple, Pashur, captures Jeremiah and places him in the stocks. When he’s released, Jeremiah curses Pashur and tells him that he will die in captivity. Jeremiah resolves not to prophesy any more, but God’s word is in his heart like a burning flame. He curses the day he is born, just like Job.
