Prophet Azariah implores Asa to seek the Lord, and Asa destroys the land of idols, and the godly from Israel flock to Judah. He gathers all of Judah and makes a public covenant to seek God and kill any person who does not. Asa’s mother Maachah is removed from her role as queen mother for making an obscene image of Asherah. The high places are removed, and there is peace until the 35th year of his reign.
