Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon, makes Jehoiakim his vassal, and Judah is attacked by raiders from Syria, Babylon, Ammon, and Moab. Jehoiakim’s son takes the throne and does evil. Nebuchadnezzar captures Jerusalem and takes Jehoiachin prisoner. Jerusalem is stripped of its wealth, and the poor are deported forcibly. Nebuchadnezzar installs Zedekiah, Jehoiachin’s uncle, as the king of Judah. Zedekiah rebels against Nebuchadnezzar after reigning for eleven years.
