Jezebel threatens Elijah, who flees into the wilderness to die. An angel of the Lord provides him with food for forty days before reaching Mount Horeb. The Lord instructs him to go to Damascus and anoint Hazael as the king of Syria and Jehu, the king of Israel. He also appoints Elisha as the prophet to take over after him. Elijah comes across Elisha and throws his mantle on him.
