Solomon has many foreign wives and concubines from countries God had forbidden. He also endorses worshiping false gods and builds high places and altars for them. Angered, God says that He will tear the kingdom from the hands of Solomon’s son. There is internal enmity in the Kingdom, and prophet Ahijah tears his garments into twelve pieces symbolizing the division of the kingdom. Jeroboam rebels against Solomon and flees to Egypt. After forty years in power, Solomon dies.
