There was a great famine in Israel because Saul had killed some Gibeonites. David offers seven members of Saul’s family except Mephibosheth to be hanged by the Gibeonites. There is a war between the Philistines and the Israelites that forces David to retire from active duty. David’s army manages to capture and kill the Philistine Ishbi-Benob and other gigantic Philistine soldiers.
