An oath is made that no Israel daughter should be given to a Benjamite who is near extinction. The Jabesh Gilead men who had not taken part in the oath are killed, and 400 virgins are taken to marry off the Benjamites. There was no King in Israel during those days, and everyone did as they pleased.
