God instructs Moses to make new tablets for the law and ascend Sinai again to rewrite the Testimony. God reaffirms His covenant with the Israelites but warns them to alienate themselves from the Canaanites in politics, marriage, fellowship, and worship. Moses stays with the Lord for 40 days and 40 nights, making new stone tablets. His face was shining when he returned.
