When Moses is delayed in the Mountain, Aaron leads the Israelites in making a false gold calf and false worship. God is displeased with his people, and despite Moses pleading for the Israelites, 3000 die. Moses smashes the stone tablets, grounds the golden calf to powder, and scatters it in the water. He forces the Israelites to drink it.
