In this chapter, the tower of Babel is built. God saw the tower and the city and observed that people could do what they wanted with one language. He decided to confuse their language so they couldn't understand one another. He did so and the people scattered all over the world. The chapter describes the family history of Shem's descendant to Abram. Abram's father was Terah, his wife Sarai, and his son-in-law Lot.
